deutsch:

english:
The point of fire outbreak (BA point) describes the punctual area in a fire room or at a fire location in which the origin of the fire is localized. The term is similar to the technical term fire source, but is limited to a much smaller area.
Finding the place where the fire broke out requires a certain amount of experience in the field of determining the cause of the fire. Officials of the criminal police or the experts appointed by the police or the public prosecutor's office are authorized to do this. Statements by witnesses (e.g. firefighters, fire alarms, etc.) about the place where the fire broke out can certainly be incorporated into the investigative activities of the criminal police.
The various traces at the scene of the fire often point relatively clearly to the point where the fire began. The following are given as examples:

  • Fire funnel
  • lowest point of fire destruction
  • Soot flags over building openings
  • Areas of severe destruction
  • incendiary devices
  • Photos and / or videos in the early phase of the fire (see fire development pictures)
  • but also reliable witness statements

It should be noted that traces of deception can also occur or that these trace s first have to be interpreted correctly and secondly, the complexity of all findings must be assessed. Once the site of the fire has been found, this is a big step towards determining the cause of the fire and this in turn is the prerequisite for establishing or excluding a crime.

The entire process of determining the cause of the fire, including determining the location of the fire, can be read in detail in the specialist literature "Determining the causes of fire".
