- Brandort
- Brandausbruchsbereich
- Brandausbruchsstelle

english:

A scene of fire (other terms are also used regionally, e.g. scene of fire) is, from a criminalist point of view, a crime scene, which, however, often harbors considerable accident and health risks. The environment can also be endangered by smoke and contaminated extinguishing water as well as other substances that have escaped (gases, liquids).

If a fire has occurred, the police will usually check on the basis of § 163 StPO whether there is a criminal act or whether the fire was created through no fault of a person. For this reason, a fire site can be confiscated, which is not so rare in practice.
Despite the high level of destruction, numerous traces can be found at a fire site. How to proceed at such a crime scene can be read in detail in the specialist literature, including my specialist book "The determination of the causes of fire".

Due to the complexity of the trace location and the complexity of determining the cause of the fire, specialists (fire cause investigators, electricians, automotive experts, etc.) are deployed at the scene of the fire in many cases.

A distinction is also made between the following territorial grading:

- Location of the fire
- Fire outbreak area
- place of fire
